Biography 

Izaya Golden is an acrylic-based artist born and raised in Portland, Oregon. Golden’s practice approaches painting as a spiritual process, an exchange of energy between artist and canvas. Sometimes guided by reflection and journaling. Other times driven by intuition and an immediate need to create without overthinking.

Beyond using a paintbrush, Golden manipulates the canvas by using a buck knife and sandpaper, or any found materials that help treat the surface like a sculpture rather than just an image. Some works begin with structured grid systems. Others emerge through the immediate force of spontaneous mark-making.
